PirTano's Story
PirTano Construction Company, Inc. is a multi-dimensional construction company that was founded by Mike Piraino, Joe Pantano, and Jack Horn in 1982. Now spanning almost 4 decades, PirTano has thoughtfully expanded its services from the early days as an Underground Utility Contractor; installing sewer and water systems and installing coax cable throughout the Chicagoland area into three areas of business, but also as an impressive a Heavy/Highway Contractor for both public and private customers. In addition, PirTano has provided an array of infrastructure and land development services and has expanded services as a Communications Contractor; adapting to the ever-evolving communications business. As a communications contractor we provide services such as fiber projects, fiber splicing, directional boring services, underground and aerial construction and ultimately entering into the Contract Communication Installation business, which brings Internet, CATV and telephone into the homes of thousands upon thousands of customers throughout the Chicago and Northwest Indiana areas.

Our History
50+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Business founded by Mike Piraino, Joe Pantano, and Jack Horn focusing on commercial and residential underground coax installation (Communications division).
Sewer & Water division founded. Both Mike and Joe had previously worked in heavy highway construction before founding the Company.
Jack joined the business full-time to take over administrative and financial duties and run the Communications division, after previously working only nights and weekends.
Communications division began working with fiber, and work in this space has grown steadily since.
The telecom meltdown brought consolidation in the space, and rather than attempt to continue diversifying operators, the decision was made to diversify services producing a steady source of work since.
Company exceeded $50 million in revenue for first time ($50.5 million).
Nominated for the Illinois Department of Transportation Subcontractor of the Year Award.
Awarded “Green Contractor of the Year” by Illinois Tollway for Pine Dunes Wetland Mitigation Project
Company exceeded $100 million in revenue for first time ($100.6 million).
